The most reliable public numbers for what child care costs in Las Vegas come from the U.S. Department of Labor’s National Database of Childcare Prices. It’s built from states’ child care market rate surveys and reports prices at the county level. The latest year it covers is 2022. The figures below are Clark County’s, and they’re medians: half of providers charged more, half charged less.

Weekly prices by age, Clark County, 2022

Median price for full-time care, per week:

Age groupChild care centerFamily child care (in a provider’s home)
Infant$275.63$193.88
Toddler$240.47$190.65
Preschool$229.27$172.34
School age$212.41$129.25

The database defines the age groups by the most common price for each span: infants birth through 23 months, toddlers 24 through 35 months, and preschoolers 36 through 54 months.

What that adds up to over a year

Multiplying the weekly medians by 52 weeks gives a rough yearly figure. Most families take some time off, so treat these as the upper end.

Age groupCenter, per yearFamily child care, per year
Infantabout $14,333about $10,082
Toddlerabout $12,504about $9,914
Preschoolabout $11,922about $8,962
School ageabout $11,045about $6,721

The same database puts Clark County’s median family income at $82,358 for 2022. At that income, a full year of center-based infant care at the median price would take about 17% of a family’s income before taxes.

The upper end of the market

The database also reports the 75th percentile, the price that only a quarter of providers charged more than. In Clark County in 2022 that was $327 a week for center-based infant care and $225 a week for infant care in a family child care home. For preschoolers, it was $272 a week in a center and $200 in a family child care home.

How to read these numbers

  • They’re from 2022. Ask every provider you’re considering for its current weekly rate, registration fee and any supply or meal charges, in writing.
  • Some values are estimated. The Department of Labor fills gaps in state survey data with documented imputation methods and flags those values in the data file.
  • They don’t include help with costs. If your household income is low enough, Nevada’s child care subsidy pays the provider up to the state’s maximum rate, and you pay a flat monthly copayment of $0 or $90 under the chart effective October 1, 2026. See how to apply for child care assistance.
  • Price says nothing about safety. Whatever you pay, check the provider’s license and inspection history with the state first.
